Growing Advice
Buddleja can suffer from a few problems, but these are easily remedied, mostly by pruning. Pruning should be done in late March/April, as pruning too early can promote new shoots that are easily frosted in late winter. This can lead to late leafing or even loss of the plant. To avoid this, prune established plants by a third in October/November to loosely shape the shrub, then prune down quite hard in late March/April. This will not affect flowering and can even improve it.
Another issue to watch out for is eelworm, which can cause yellow or brown blotches on leaves or deformed shoots. The best way to treat this is by cutting out affected branches or shoots and discarding them away from the garden.
