Geraniums are divided into two types: Greenhouse Geraniums (officially Pelargoniums) and hardy perennial Geraniums, also known as Crane's Bill. This particular variety falls into the latter category, making it easy to grow and a great choice for any garden border. The Genus is vast, ranging from small alpines to large perennials, but all are generally happy in most conditions, except for very wet and boggy areas.
Geranium clarkei 'Kashmir Purple' thrives in full sun to partial shade and is hardy up to -15 degrees Celsius. It prefers moist, well-drained soil, but can also tolerate sandy, loam, chalk, and clay. Its primary growth habit is low, making it an ideal ground cover and a great choice for the front of a border.
For more vigorous varieties, trimming back after the first flowering will encourage regrowth and a second round of blooms. In winter, the plant will die back, but a good mulch will provide all the nutrients it needs to shoot away in the spring. Add this unique and beautiful Geranium to your garden for a pop of colour and easy maintenance.
